Blog: The Automatic Driving Licence Requirements

- HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR MY DRIVING LICENCE TO ARRIVE
You will usually receive your driving licence within three weeks. If you have passed a practical driving test and handed over your provisional driving licence to the examiner, that entitles you to legally drive until you get your full driving licence.

- PROVISIONAL DRIVING LICENCE
A provisional driving licence shows the same information as a full licence. The letter "L" displayed on the provisional driving licence indicates the holder is a learner that got a driver license, which enables him to drive.

- WHEN DOES A DRIVER LICENSE EXPIRES
Your photocard driving licence must be renewed every 10 years. In section 4 on the front of our photocard licence you have information about the date your licence was issued (4a) and the date it expires (4b).

PLEASE DRIVE SAFELY
Of the 212 peope who died on Irish roads during 2010, 38% were aged under 25. One in five drivers has an accident in the first year of driving. - Ian Daly
